Local Time: 0600
Location: Albermarle Sound, North Carolina.
Boat: Lady Raediel.
Current course (all legs)
90.53 ° N35°58.727'-W75°46.442'
Weather is fine, clear skies.
Seas are calm, low swell.
Wind is SSW at 13kts.
A delay cost a full day and night, spending the time anchored of Durant Island.
Cause was a small interaction with a sandbar. Not an auspicious start to the journey to be sure.
Lady Raediel is free again now and is heading once again due East, before she can turn south and head for the passage back out to the Atlantic, before her north bound turn for Chesapeake Bay.
No other issues to report,
Local Authorities most helpful in extracting LR from the muck, many thanks to them.
Making 7.6kts on reach, will stay this way for about an hour, then should be able to see Roanoke Island as my guide south.

Manual Navigation Challenge Log 1
0100 (AEST) 17th September 2017
Local Time: 1000
Location: Alligator River, North Carolina.
Boat: Lady Raediel.
Current course (all legs)
So the Great Journey begins.
Weather is fine, clear skies.
Seas are very low, less than 0.5m swell.
Wind is SSW at 7kts.
First leg is going to be slow with no engine. Tacking into a low headwind to make a bearing of 59° using the headlands either side of the mouth of the Alligator as my first landmarks.
The Lady Raediel has performed wonderfully on the journey so far, exploring much of the Caribbean and up the coast to North Carolina. Hoping she carries me well around the world.
